🔥 When things are urgent, when you do not know what to do anymore, when you are injured, in a difficult situation, or simply do not know where else to turn: You have come to the right place.

🏛️ We are not a large authority, a distant hotline, or an anonymous organization. We are right here in Wiang Pa Pao, we know the region, we know difficult life situations, and we know what it feels like when you have reached your limits and can no longer move forward alone. That is exactly when we are here for you.

🏠 Private initiative.
We are dedicated private individuals from Wiang Pa Pao. We are not an authority, an official rescue organization, or a counseling center. We provide voluntary help within our means and, when needed, refer you to appropriate official services.
💡 Block 1: Here you will first find the people who help and the most important situations in which you can contact us.

👩 Who helps you? – Safety and trust first

🤍 Our emergency help is generally led and provided by an experienced female emergency helper. This is especially important to us: Many people, especially women, girls, or people in difficult family situations, feel safer, more open, and more comfortable with a female contact person.

👨 If the situation requires it, an experienced male colleague is available to support her – as an escort, for additional safety, for physically demanding measures, or when organizationally or practically necessary. You will always receive the support that fits your situation.

🗣️ We provide help in three languages:

🇹🇭 Thai 🇩🇪 German 🇬🇧 English

📝 Typical situations in which we can help:

  • 🩹 If you are injured and need immediate first aid
  • 🤕 For minor to moderate wounds, bruises, burns, or consequences of accidents
  • 🏥 If you do not know whether you need a doctor or hospital, we will look together at what to do after initial care
  • 🧰 We always keep essential supplies for first aid and immediate measures ready: dressings, disinfectant, pain and fever medication, cold and heat packs, and everything important for initial care

🎯 Who are we here for? – No question is too small, no emergency is too great

💙 You can contact us at any time, whether you need immediate medical assistance or are facing a life situation from which you cannot find a way out alone. We do not judge, we listen, and we look together at what is possible.

🩹 First aid basics – what you can do yourself

ℹ️ These are general guidelines for laypeople – they do not replace a doctor or professional training. If in doubt, always call 1669!

🩸 How to properly treat minor to moderate wounds
  • 1️⃣ First: Wash or disinfect your hands before touching the wound
  • 2️⃣ Carefully rinse the wound with clean drinking water. Do not put soap directly into the wound, as it can irritate it
  • 3️⃣ Gently pat dry with sterile gauze. DO NOT rub, as this can damage new tissue
  • 4️⃣ Cover with a plaster or loose dressing. Keep it clean and dry
  • ⚠️ See a doctor / hospital for: heavily bleeding wounds, wounds over 2 cm, deep cuts, animal or human bite wounds, very dirty wounds, or if the tetanus shot is older than 10 years
🔥 How to cool burns correctly – the most common mistakes
  • 1️⃣ Cool immediately with lukewarm water (15–25 °C) for at least 10–20 minutes – NOT ice cold! This causes additional tissue damage
  • 2️⃣ NO creams, toothpaste, oils, flour, or home remedies on a fresh burn – this does more harm than good and makes it harder for a doctor to assess the wound later
  • 3️⃣ DO NOT pop blisters – this greatly increases the risk of infection
  • 4️⃣ Cover loosely with a sterile wound dressing. Do not use cotton wool, as it can stick
  • ⚠️ See a doctor for: large burns, burns on the face, hands, feet, or genital area, blister rupture, or any clouding of consciousness
💓 Unconscious person – act step by step correctly
  • 1️⃣ Speak to the person + shake the shoulders gently: Does the person respond? If not, continue
  • 2️⃣ Check breathing: Slightly tilt the head back, place your ear near the mouth and nose, and observe for 10 seconds – does the chest rise?
  • 3️⃣ If the person is NOT breathing or is breathing irregularly/gasping: Call 1669 immediately! Then start chest compressions right away: press firmly 30 times in the middle of the chest, then give 2 breaths – repeat until help arrives
  • 4️⃣ If the person is breathing but unconscious: Place the person in the recovery position, put a warm blanket over them, and stay with them until rescuers arrive
  • ⚠️ Basic rule: unconscious people should NEVER be given anything to eat or drink, even if they regain consciousness, until a doctor allows it
😰 How to calm a panic attack – what really helps
  • 1️⃣ Stay calm yourself: Speak slowly, quietly, and clearly. DO NOT say "calm down now!" – this almost always makes the situation worse
  • 2️⃣ Go to a quiet place: Away from crowds, noise, and bright light – if possible, go outside into fresh air
  • 3️⃣ Practice 4-7-8 breathing together: 4 Sekunden langsam einatmen, 7 Sekunden Luft anhalten, 8 Sekunden ganz langsam wieder ausatmen. Langsam wiederholen
  • 4️⃣ Grounding exercise: "Name 5 things you can see, 4 you can hear, and 3 things you can feel" – this reliably brings the person back to the present
  • 5️⃣ The most important thing: you do not have to solve or fix anything. Simply be there, stay calm, and wait – that is already the greatest help
💔 If you are having suicidal thoughts – you can do this right away
  • ✅ ASK DIRECTLY: "Are you thinking about hurting yourself right now?" – This is NOT dangerous; it is one of the most important things you can ask. It often helps a great deal when it is finally said out loud
  • ✅ TAKE IT SERIOUSLY: No phrases like "it will get better", "think of your family", or "others have it much worse" – that never helps and often hurts
  • ✅ JUST LISTEN: Be there, do not judge, do not offer advice, do not try to have solutions ready – simply listen
  • ✅ REMOVE DANGEROUS ITEMS: If possible, secure knives, tablets, ropes, lighters, etc. – without humiliating the person
  • ✅ GET HELP IMMEDIATELY: Call 1323, call Pao24, or go to the hospital together
  • ✅ DO NOT LEAVE THEM ALONE: Stay with the person until professional help arrives, even if it takes hours

✅ Practical checklists – to tick off in an emergency

🚑 After an accident – step by step
  • ⚠️ Your own safety first – never put yourself in danger
  • Secure the accident scene: turn on hazard lights, set up the warning triangle
  • Talk to and calm the injured person – do not move them unnecessarily!
  • Stop severe bleeding immediately with a pressure bandage
  • Call 1669 – clearly say: WHERE? WHAT? HOW MANY injured?
  • Unconscious person without breathing problems: recovery position
  • If breathing stops: start CPR immediately, 30:2
  • Warm blanket – shock can occur even with apparently minor injuries
  • When rescuers arrive: report exactly what happened and what you have done
🛡️ In case of domestic violence / immediate danger
  • 🚪 First: go to a safe place – neighbor, temple, shop, gas station, public place
  • 🔒 If you cannot get out: go into a room with a lock, keep your phone with you, and hold the door closed
  • 🎒 Keep an emergency go-bag ready: ID, money, medication, clothes for you and children, and important documents
  • 📞 Call 1161 or 1300 – the state crisis hotline with shelters in every province
  • 💚 Call Pao24 – we help with contact and translation
  • 📝 Document everything: take photos of injuries, save messages, and note names of witnesses
  • 👮 In immediate violence: always call 191 police – even if you later want to withdraw a report, documentation is important
  • 💛 YOU ARE NOT TO BLAME – no matter what happened, no matter what he or she says
  • ⏱️ You set the pace: you do NOT have to go to the police immediately, file a report immediately, or decide everything right away
🧳 What should be in a good emergency kit at home?
  • ✅ Sterile compresses + gauze bandages in different sizes
  • ✅ Plaster set (waterproof + breathable)
  • ✅ Fixing tape / adhesive tape
  • ✅ Wound disinfectant (alcohol-free for open wounds)
  • ✅ Disposable nitrile gloves (latex often causes allergies)
  • ✅ Scissors + tweezers (rounded tips!)
  • ✅ Paracetamol (pain relief + fever reduction, also suitable for children)
  • ✅ Ibuprofen (not for stomach problems, asthma, or pregnancy)
  • ✅ Antihistamine (e.g. cetirizine)
  • ✅ Digital thermometer
  • ✅ Cooling pack (always keep one in the freezer)
  • ✅ Rescue blanket gold/silver (keeps warm or cools, takes up almost no space)
  • ✅ Resuscitation mask
  • 📅 Once a year: check ALL medicines for expiry dates!

⚖️ Legal matters, limits, and what we CANNOT provide

🤍 Honesty builds trust. That is why we tell you openly what we can do – and what we cannot.

🛡️ Legal protection for voluntary help – what really applies?

Important: Pao24 does not make any blanket promise that voluntary helpers in Thailand are generally protected from lawsuits or claims for damages.

Legal responsibility always depends on the specific case, the behavior of the person helping, and the applicable Thai law. Therefore, we do not promise general immunity from liability.

For Pao24, the rule is: we help voluntarily and within our actual abilities and knowledge. In medical emergencies or situations beyond our capabilities, professional rescue services and medical facilities take priority.

In an immediate life threatening emergency, the official emergency medical service at 1669 or the police at 191 take priority. For legal questions, qualified legal advice should be obtained.

🤫 Our duty of confidentiality – how exactly do we handle it?
  • 🔒 We treat your information confidentially and generally do not share personal information without your consent.
  • ⚠️ In the event of immediate danger to life or physical safety, it may be necessary to call for help or share information. This depends on the specific situation and applicable law.
  • 📝 Intern, sensitive information should also only be accessible to the people required for the specific help.
  • 🔐 If personal data is processed or stored, the applicable Privacy Policy requirements apply.
🚫 What we CANNOT provide – honesty first

We are dedicated private individuals, not a professional large organization. That is why there are things we cannot provide for legal, financial, or capacity reasons:

  • ❌ No long-term medical treatment: We can provide first aid, but not medical treatment, surgery, or ongoing wound care over several days – that is always the responsibility of a doctor
  • ❌ No permanent accommodation: We can provide safety for a few days, but not permanent housing – in that case we refer you onward
  • ❌ No cash payments: We do not give out cash or permanently finance medical bills, rent, or food – but we help you apply for appropriate support
  • ❌ No legal advice: We can help with forms and translation, but we cannot give legal advice – we refer you to suitable lawyers or organizations
  • ❌ No psychotherapy: We can listen and accompany you, but we cannot provide professional therapy – we will point you to specialized services
  • ❌ No replacement for the police: We cannot arrest anyone, confront anyone, or enforce anything – in cases of violence or crimes, 191 is always the correct contact, but we are happy to accompany you there
  • ❌ No 100% 24/7 guarantee: We always try to be reachable, but sometimes we are already on an assignment or asleep – in that case, please call the official emergency numbers in parallel
  • ✅ But: Even if we cannot do something ourselves – we will NOT leave you alone. We help you find the right service and get there.
📄 Residency status & documents – does that matter to us?

💚 In plain terms: NO. Not at all.

Whether you have a valid passport, a tourist visa, a work permit, or no documents at all you still get our help. No questions, no reporting to authorities, no ifs or buts.

This applies especially to:

  • 👥 People from mountain communities without official Thai citizenship
  • 🛂 Refugees and asylum seekers from Myanmar and other countries
  • ✈️ Expats with an expired visa or overstay
  • 🧳 Tourists who have lost their documents
  • 👷 Workers without a valid employment contract

Our rule: Person in need = person in need. Full stop. Everything else is secondary.
